Abstract

This article explores ways to increase students’ interest in physics through the organization of extracurricular activities in school physics education. Extracurricular work, serving as a method, form, and means of teaching, upbringing, development, and personal formation—as well as a tool for increasing interest in physics—enhances students’ cognitive interest in the subject. It teaches them to apply the theoretical knowledge they have gained in real life and practice. The main forms of extracurricular work in physics at school include physics clubs, олимпиадs (academic competitions), subject weeks, wall newspapers, physics evenings, contests, quizzes, and conferences. Since classroom time is limited, extracurricular activities in physics increase students’ motivation to gain knowledge and encourage independent learning. They also help students in choosing their future profession. Thus, the use of extracurricular activities plays an important role in increasing interest in physics, deepening students’ knowledge, encouraging their active participation in life, and improving the effectiveness of physics education.
