This scientific article provides a comprehensive analysis of the scientific and theoretical heritage, stages of formation, and research directions of the renowned ethnographer, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor Ertabyldy Joldoshovich Sulaimanov. The professor's scientific journey began with training under the giants of the classical Soviet ethnographic school in the second half of the 20th century and continues to make a significant contribution to the development of Kyrgyz studies today. The evolution of his scientific views is closely linked to his years of study at the Department of Ethnography of the Faculty of History at Lomonosov Moscow State University and his postgraduate studies at the N.N. Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In these institutions, he mastered the methodology of world-class scholars such as Yu.V. Bromley, S.A. Tokarev, S.M. Abramzon, and B.A. Rybakov.The article extensively covers the primary directions of E.J. Sulaimanov's scientific research: traditional Kyrgyz economy, the history of ironworking, ethnocultural relations of the peoples of Turkestan, and demographic processes. It is noted that his unique synthetic method, which combines field expedition materials, archival documents, and archaeological data, ensured the accuracy of his scientific conclusions. Special emphasis is placed on his works revealing ethnogenetic links in the metalworking traditions of the Kyrgyz with the Turkic-speaking peoples of Southern Siberia.Furthermore, the professor's contribution to the "Kyrgyz Soviet Encyclopedia," his role in developing terminological standards, and his source-study activities in translating the manuscripts of Osmonaaly Sydyk uulu are examined. In conclusion, it is summarized that the heritage of E.J. Sulaimanov, the author of more than 150 scientific works, is a valuable treasure that has strengthened the theoretical and practical foundations of Kyrgyz ethnological science. The article serves as a scientific guide for ethnographers, historians, and higher education lecturers.
